AOC Bordeaux

AOC Bordeaux is a regional AOC produced throughout the vineyards of Bordeaux in the South West of France.

The red wines AOC (appellation of origin controlled) Bordeaux are supple, fruity, and light-bodied wines. Depending on the blend, their nose is dominated by delicious aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, blackcurrant, and even violet. The fruit allows these wines to be savored young.

The red wines AOC (appellation of origin controlled) Bordeaux are mainly made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the first bringing its tannic structure, the second the fruit and the velvety texture. Cabernet Franc can also be part of the blend and brings roundness and spicy aromas.

The vineyard area is 42,600 hectares and produces 2,236,700 hectoliters throughout the wine-growing area of the Gironde department. This AOC is the most important and best-selling appellation of Bordeaux in the world. It meets qualitative standards defined by the I.N.A.O (National Institute of Appellations of Origin). Thus, to claim this AOC, the yield per hectare cannot exceed 60 hectoliters and the alcoholic strength of the wine must be between 10 and 13.5% of the volume. This regional appellation is so extensive that it covers a wide variety of soils.
